Divi's Lab, Bajaj Auto and HDFC Life and Hero MotoCorp are among the top gainers in the Nifty basket, trading with gains of around 6-4 per cent. On the other hand, HDFC Bank, HDFC, Eicher Motors and UPL are among the top losers, down around 3-1 per cent.

The banking and financial sector performed considerably well in the FY23 year-ending quarter as the majority of the companies managed to recover their loans, thereby minimising the share of non-performing assets. In this quarter, all eyes are on the HDFC merger, as analysts expect that HDFC Bank will be one of the largest lenders after State Bank of India in terms of credit after the merger.
HDFC Bank Q1 update
HDFC Bank witnessed a growth of 15.8 per cent in its advances to approximately Rs 16,15,500 crore as of June 30, 2023, which previously stood at Rs 13,95,100 crore on June 30, 2022. The bank mentioned in its filings that domestic retail loans grew by around 20.0 per cent over June 30, 2022, and around 4.0 per cent over March 31, 2023; commercial and rural banking loans grew by around 29.0 per cent over June 30, 2022, and around 2.0 per cent over March 31, 2023.
RBL Bank Q1 update
The total deposit for the bank grew by 8 per cent as the deposit jumped from Rs 79,216 crore in June 2022 to Rs 84,887 crore in June 2023. The bank also mentioned in its filings that retail advances grew 32 per cent Y-o-Y while wholesale advances grew 8 per cent Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) for the quarter ended June 30, 2023. Read more

Share Market Today LIVE | HDFC Bank slips over 3% after Q1 business update; is there a need to worry?
Shares of HDFC Bank shares are trading at 2,797, down by Rs 83.8 or 2.91 per cent on BSE. HDFC Bank shares slipped as much as 3.38 per cent to Rs 1,670.05 apiece on the BSE on Wednesday, a day after the lender released its business update for the quarter ended June 30, 2023 (Q1FY24). Last seen, the bank's share price traded 3.30 per cent lower at Rs 1,671.55.
In its Q1 business update, the private-sector lender announced the following:
The bank’s advances aggregated to approximately Rs 16,155 billion as of June 30, 2023, a growth of around 15.8 per cent over Rs 13,951 billion as of June 30, 2022, and a growth of around 0.9 per cent over Rs 16,006 billion as of March 31, 2023. Gross of transfers through inter-bank participation certificates and bills rediscounted, the bank’s advances grew by around 20.2 per cent over June 30, 2022, and around 1.9 per cent over March 31, 2023. Shares of Samvardhana Motherson International jumped as much as 8.69 per cent to hit a 52-week high of Rs 92.50 apiece on the BSE in the early morning trade on Wednesday, a day after the company announced it would acquire an 81 per cent stake in the four-wheeler business of Yachiyo Industry, a Honda Motor subsidiary.
SAMVARDHANA MOTHERSON: WHAT BROKERAGES SAY
Reacting to the development, global brokerage firm Nomura has double-upgraded the stock to BUY from Neutral and raised the target price to Rs 105 from Rs 90 earlier. The brokerage notes that the acquisition is at an attractive valuation. Read more
Senco Gold IPO | Subscription update, listing date, what Anil Singhvi recommends, other key details to know
Jewellery retailer Senco Gold's initial public offer (IPO), to raise up to Rs 405 crore, gets fully subscribed on Wednesday, the second day of the bidding process. The Senco Gold IPO comprises fresh issuance of shares up to Rs 270 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) worth Rs 135 crore. The IPO will be open for two more trading days, till July 6.
The Senco Gold IPO received bids for 1.2 crore shares against the 94.2 lakh shares on offer, according to provisional exchange data. Here's how different types of investors responded to the issue:
